Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme at the University of Cambridge

The University of Cambridge in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation are pleased to announce applications for the 2024/25 Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme. The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme at the University of Cambridge was established to help support bright and preforming students from disadvantaged backgrounds to undertake a Masters Programme at the University of Cambridge.

This programme at the University of Cambridge is intended to run from 2023 to 2030, supporting over 500 students from Africa. The programme is solely dedicated to students who wish to pursue a Master’s degree programme.

Who can Apply?

The programme is intended to support applicants from Africa who have the demonstrate excellent academic performance form their previous study experiences. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to contribute to develop transformative skills and contribute to climate resilience and sustainable futures in Africa.

Benefits


To Apply for the Mastercard Scholars programme at the University of Cambridge, you must meet the following criteria

  • Applicants will receive coverage for programme fees for their selected degree programme
  • You will receive coverage for costs for flights from and back to your home country
  • You will receive a monthly stipend to cover your daily living expenses.
  • Costs related to Visa applications will also be covered.
  • Scholarship recipients will also benefit from Termly Leadership trainings, placements and become part of the Cambridge University and Mastercard Foundation Scholars alumni Communities at the end of their studies.

Eligibility


To Apply for the Mastercard Scholars programme at the University of Cambridge, you must meet the following criteria

  • You must be a Citizen and national of an African Country
  • Applicants must be permanent residents of an African Country
  • You must have graduated with a a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited Institution.
  • Applicants must be planning to pursue a Master’s degree programmme at the University of Cambridge on a fulltime basis.
  • You must be applying for one of the eligible programmes sponsored by the scholars programme.
  • Applicants must meet the admission conditions set for their selected Master’s programme

Application


Before you apply, you are advised to identify and select your preferred Master’s programme from the university of Cambridge online directory. After Identifying your programme, follow the steps below to complete your application.

The application involves 3 stages as described below

  • Apply for admission to the University of Cambridge: You must apply for admission for your selected Master’s degree programme. Different courses have different deadlines for admission, so pay carefully attention to this.
  • Apply for the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Programme: During your application for admission, your will be asked to select funding options that apply to you. You should then select the Mastercard Foundation Scholars programme. Applicants will be requested to submit a personal statement to support your application.
  • Choose your preferred College: All applicants must choose a preferred college at which they will complete their studies.
