Master Mind Scholarships at Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Belgium

Applications for the Master Mind scholarships at Vrije Universiteit Brussel to study in Belgium are now open. The Master Mind scholarships are offered by the Flemish government are dedicated to international students who are planning to pursue a Master’s degree at one of the participating universities in Belgium.

The main aim of these scholarships is to promote internationalization of the Flemish higher education. Scholarship beneficiaries are usually excellent students with an exceptional academic background coming from all over the world. Scholarships are exclusively offered for Master’s degree study.

Students who wish to apply for these scholarships should have secured admission to their preferred Master’s degree programme. They must then complete the application for the scholarship and submit it before the set deadline. After submission of all application, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel will nominate about 20 candidates and this list will be sent to the Flemish Ministry of education, who then do the final selection


Accepted applicants will be eligible for the following benefits

  • The Master Mind Scholarships cover tuition fees for your selected Master’s programme worth €10,000 per academic year for the entire duration for your programme.
  • The funding is offered for the first year and is extended for the second tear subject to sufficient academic progress and performance


Applicants for the programme must meet the following conditions

  • These scholarships are open to students of all nationalities coming form any country around the world except Russia.
  • You must have completed a Bachelors degree in order to apply for the scholarship
  • Applicants must have achieved a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a scale of 4.0 or equivalent in their undergraduate studies.
  • It is recommended to apply first for admission and receive an offer before applying for the scholarship.
  • Applicants must have proof of sufficient English Language proficiency. The minimum test scores are TOEFL iBT 94, IELTS academic module Band 7.0, C1 level with a minimum score of 185 for Cambridge English Qualifications.


Before you apply for the scholarship, you are advised to identify and select a preferred Master’s programme. You must then apply forth programme and receive admissions.

Students can also apply for the scholarships even before receiving admission for their preferred Master’s programme. However, they submit a copy of their admission later by the deadline of March 30, 2023. The deadline for application for the scholarship is March 10, 2024.

Application Documents must be submitted by email to [email protected]. The list of application documents required is as below.

  • A fully completed application form to be downloaded form the programme website
  • The candidate’s recent Passport photo
  • Include your passport or national Identification card
  • Applicants must submit their Diplomas and Transcript of records for their completed Bachelors degree
  • In case your Academic documents are not issued in Dutch, French or English, please include a certified translation in any of the mentioned languages
  • A recent Curriculum Vitae indicating your Academic history and clearly final GPA, academic awards, any previous scholarships, publications and any other relevant information
  • Include English language test results for one of the officially accepted tests
  • Request Two letters of recommendation from professors at your home university or recent employer
