Honjo Scholarship at the Asian Pacific University in Japan

Apply for the 2025 Honjo Scholarship to study at the Asian Pacific University in Japan. This scholarship is dedicated to international students who wish to study at the Asian Pacific (APU) University in Japan. Are you planning to apply for a Master’s or Doctoral Degree programme in Japan? then this scholarship is for you.

How it works?: You must apply first for the degree programme of your choice (Master’s or PhD) at the APU. Applicants must then apply for the scholarship directly to Honjo International Scholarship foundation. This is the organization that is offering the scholarship. Honjo International Scholarship foundation will run a selection process for all students who applied for the scholarship and receive admission to study at APU.

The scholarship is open to all international applicants who are planning to enroll for either a Master’s or PhD programme at APU starting the academic year 2025. In fact, you can apply for the scholarship even before receiving admission for your preferred degree programme at APU.

Benefits


If you are selected for this scholarship, you will receive the following benefits

  • The scholarship offers a study grant in form of a monthly stipend, for the entire duration of your degree programme.
  • The amount of money you receive per month depends on the duration of your study programme.
  • If your study programme has a duration of 1 – 2 years, you will receive an amount worth 230,000 JPY (Yen) per month.
  • For study programmes lasting 3 years, you will receive an amount worth 210,000 JPY (yen) per month.

Eligibility


Candidates for the programme must meet the following conditions

  • This scholarship is open to non-Japanese International students regardless of their nationalities.
  • The scholarship is open to students planning to enroll for a Master’s Degree or Doctoral programme at the Asia Pacific University in Japan.
  • Although you need to secure admission in order to benefit from the scholarship, you may apply for the scholarship even without pre-selection by APU.
  • Applicants for a master’s degree programme must not have more than 29 years by the time they start their studies.
  • Doctoral students must not be older than 34 years of age by the start of their programme.
  • Applicants should posses a conversational Japanese proficiency.

Application


Students can now apply for the scholarship as well as admission to APU for the April 2026 enrollment. So if you are interested in applying for the scholarship for the next enrollment, follow the steps below.

Step 1

  • Submit your application for admission for either a Master’s or Doctoral programme at APU
  • The deadline for application for admission for programme starting April 2026 is September 16, 2025.
  • The application for admission is submitted directly to APU via their online application portal.

Step 2

  • Submit your application for the scholarship for the study programme you have applied for.
  • The application for the scholarship must be submitted by September 16, 2025
  • You will submit your application for the scholarship directly to Honjo International Scholarship foundation.
  • The application is submitted via their online application portal that will open when the application window opens.
