Apply for the Destination Australia scholarships at Southern Cross University in Australia. The Destination Australia scholarships, an initiative of the Australian Government aims to support students to undertake their University Diploma studies in regional Australia.

Selected applicants will have the opportunity to study at one of the regional campuses in Lismore or Coffs Harbour, and enjoy the benefits of two of the most picturesque and affordable university towns in Australia. The scholarships are offered for selected eligible one year Diploma programmes

The scholarship is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens, permanent Australian residents, students with an Australian permanent visa as well as International Student Visas. This scholarship is awarded for one year, which is the duration the eligible Diploma programmes

The university has three campuses located at Lismore in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, on the Gold Coast across from Kirra Beach and in picturesque Coffs Harbour


If you are selected for the program, you will benefit from the scholarship as below

  • The scholarship grant is worth $15,000 for one year
  • This scholarship will be offered to you, if selected, for an eligible one year Diploma programme


In order to apply, you must fulfill the following application conditions.

  • As a candidate, you must be Australian citizen, a New Zealand citizen, a permanent Australian resident, a student with an Australian permanent visa or an International Student Visa.
  • You must be commencing your studied for they 2023 academic year

You must be enrolling as full-time student for one of the following Diploma courses at the following Campuses

Lismore Campus

  • Diploma of Arts and Social Sciences
  • Diploma of Civil Construction (Engineering and Management)
  • Diploma of Health
  • Diploma of Regenerative Agriculture
  • Diploma of Science

Coffs Harbour Campus

  • Diploma in Health
  • You must be and maintain ongoing residency in a regional area as defined by the 2016 Australian Geography Standard Remoteness Structure, for the duration of each study period
  • If you are an International Student, you are required to maintain a student visa for the duration of the scholarship in order to ensure protection under the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000.


There is a total of 30 scholarships available for the 2023 academic year, with each of the campuses hosting 15 scholarships. Applications for the scholarship must be submitted online using the application portal provided. You must submit your application before the closing deadline

During the application, you will be requested to provide your bio information as well as academic history and study information. You will also have to submit the following

  • You must submit your personal contact details
  • Candidates must present their SCU Student ID Number for the eligible course they applied for
  • You must also specify your Southern Cross University course preference
